A New Era for Our Foundation

When we began this journey in 2003 we really had no idea where it would lead. What started out as a group of friends riding across Canada in honour of a young girl with cancer has transformed into a national movement with tens of thousands of participants and volunteers, dedicated sponsors and a national charity that has helped thousands of children and families all across Canada.

Today, 15 years later, we can reflect on the remarkable achievements of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation team. We’ve raised and distributed over $50,000,000 in support of Canadian children with cancer and their families, and in the process, Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation has become a recognized leader in Canada in funding childhood cancer programs and research. We are truly making a difference in the quality of life of children with cancer.

We can all be very proud of these achievements; event participants, donors, fundraisers, volunteers, Foundation staff, sponsors, and of course, the many partner organizations across Canada that we have supported. And while the work must continue, it’s now time to engage new leadership, with new energy and ideas, and new, ambitious goals.

For 15 years I’ve been the Founder, Chairman of the Board and a very passionate Volunteer for Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation. I am extremely proud and honoured to have contributed to the Foundation over this time. However, it is now time to hand over the reins of leadership to ensure the Foundation continues to expand and drive its mission of a destination beyond kids cancer, and to allow me more time to focus on my wonderful family and my business.

As a result we are announcing several changes to the Board and executive positions:
• I will relinquish my role as Chair of the Board of Directors to Patrick Sullivan; and
• Jaime Wilson will be joining the Foundation as Managing Director

While I plan to continue to be very involved with the Foundation and its vision and mission, I believe with the guidance of Patrick and the Board of Directors, and the leadership of Jaime, Coast to Coast is poised to build on what has been achieved to date and to continue our momentum toward our Vision of a world beyond kids cancer.

So a little about Patrick & Jaime;

PATRICK SULLIVAN, CHAIR OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Patrick has been a member of our Board for almost four years. As a parent who has lost a child to cancer he knows all too well the need that our Foundation serves and supports. He is the founder of

Team Finn, an important childhood cancer fundraising and advocacy movement. Patrick is also a founder of AC2ORN, the Advocacy for Childhood Cancer Oncology Research Network, whose mission is to advocate for translational research and effective treatments to realize the goal of curing pediatric cancers.

Patrick says “I am excited and humbled by this opportunity to lead Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation in our collective aim to make a meaningful difference in the lives of kids, adolescents and families faced with a cancer diagnosis. In 2008, after watching my son Finn live with abandon for three short years, I watched him die. I am determined to change that outcome for all other children like Finn. Jeff has built something incredible and I look forward to being a part of the team whose mission is a Destination Beyond Cancer.”

JAIME WILSON, MANAGING DIRECTOR

We are also very pleased to announce that Jaime Wilson will be joining the Foundation team as Managing Director, starting May 14, 2018. Jaime is a results-driven fundraising professional. She joins the Foundation from True Patriot Love Foundation where she was Chief Development Officer. Her prior experience includes senior roles with SickKids Foundation, Villa Charities Foundation and Right To Play. Jaime is an inspiring leader who will bring strong leadership, vision, advocacy and program management skills to her new role with the Foundation. Jaime earned her undergraduate degree in English Literature from York University in Toronto. Among her many notable accomplishments, she includes a summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, an expedition to the North Pole and sea-kayak journey through the Bay of Exploits, Newfoundland. She enjoys spending her free time with her 3-year-old son, Henry Maddox.

Jaime says “I am truly inspired to work with such a committed group of people and to be part of the continued growth and success of Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation in support of this very important cause.”

Please join me in welcoming these leaders to their new roles with Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.
