Adam Pike

Born: February, 2002

Adam Pike

  • Hometown: St. John's, Newfoundland
  • Year of Diagnosis: 2007
  • Diagnosis: Medulloblastoma (Brain Tumor)

Some facts about my treatment:

Adam was diagnosed on January 4th, 2007 with Medulloblastoma – a brain tumor, about the size of a kiwi.  Surgery was scheduled for Wednesday, Jan 10th and doctors were able to remove 99% of the tumour. After a month in the hospital, Adam was discharged from the Janeway and he started six weeks of radiation.  Just after his 5th birthday, Adam received 9 rounds of chemotherapy over 13 months. In March 2008, 14 months after he was diagnosed, Adam was deemed cancer free and now only has to go back once a year for an MRI and a checkup with his oncologists.

What I want people to know about me

I like lambs, soccer and video games.

My favourite day was

When I finished treatment.

The worst thing about having cancer

Having to take chemotherapy mixed with orange juice.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A Pokemon Master

My message to other kids undergoing treatment

You will get better

If you could have one superpower strength, what would it be?

Be able to fly like Superman

If I had three wishes they would be…

That no one else would get cancer, to live in a world without sickness, to have a real live Pokemon as a pet

I’m involved with Coast to Coast because…

I want to help children who have cancer

Our Featured Ambassador

This is Josh Nelson – a childhood cancer survivor. He knows about facing all the challenges of childhood cancer:

“I know first-hand how it feels to be a prisoner in the hospital and endure the surgeries and the endless needles and treatments. I know how it feels to lose my hair, throw up regularly and watch other kids around me earn their wings. I lost a part of my childhood that I will never get back. I know how it feels to look different and to be different. That’s something that I wouldn’t wish for any other kid to go through, and that is why I do what I do.”
