Jeff Rushton – Founder

Jeff Rushton is President & CEO of Media Resources International Inc., one of North America’s largest LED display manufacturers and large-format digital printers and Canada’s largest outdoor sign installation company. Prior to investing in Media Resources and taking on his current role, Jeff served as Executive Vice president of Vizible Corporation where he was responsible for sales, marketing, business development and operations. He has also served in executive-level positions as president, executive vice president or chief operating officer for Fujitsu Consulting, Netigy Corporation, MCI Systemhouse and Rogers Communications. Jeff also ran his own consulting company, with a focus on strategy and change management. Jeff is a Certified Public Accountant and Certified Management Accountant and he holds an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Masters, Business Administration from University of Toronto.
While Jeff’s exuberance for any business challenge is infectious (and exhausting!), his passion and commitment to making a difference in the lives of children with cancer is even more inspiring and motivating. As Founder, Chair, and Passionate Volunteer of Coast the Coast Against Cancer Foundation, Jeff’s vision has resulted in a strong and growing community of like-minded people that have contributed to making Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation the leading independent funder of childhood cancer programs in Canada.
Patrick Sullivan – Chairman
Partner, Taylor Veinotte Sullivan, Barristers
Patrick Sullivan is a passionate childhood cancer research advocate, the President and founder of the Team Finn Foundation, and one of the founding members of Ac2orn (Advocacy for Canadian Childhood Oncology Research Network) a pan-Canadian science advocacy group which is dedicated to working with researchers and clinicians as they implement the dream of curing pediatric cancer through translational research and effective treatments.
Professionally, Patrick is a securities and corporate-commercial litigator based in Vancouver, B.C.
Patrick is also the proud father of three remarkable children and would do almost anything for the simple pleasure of holding his son Finn’s hand again.
Patrick is very proud and excited to join Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, an organization with an amazing legacy, and to be a part of its continued growth as we move to a Destination Beyond Kids Cancer.
Tom Fenton – Board Secretary
Partner, Aird & Berlis LLP
Tom Fenton joined Aird & Berlis LLP as a partner in June 1997 after practising with a national, Toronto-based law firm for many years. He is Practice Group Leader of the Corporate Finance Group and a member of the Corporate/Commercial Group, as well as the Energy, Mergers & Acquisitions and Mining Groups.
Tom’s practice is primarily focused on securities and corporate law, with an emphasis on corporate finance transactions and mergers and acquisitions. Tom also advises corporations with respect to securities, regulatory compliance, corporate governance matters, continuous disclosure obligations, general corporate matters and shareholder meetings.
Tom currently sits as a director and/or officer of a number of public and private companies. Away from the office, and in addition to having an active family life with his wife Susan and three grown kids, Tom is a keen sportsman, enjoying running, cycling, hockey and other sports.
Dan Landry took an early retirement in 2012 from SAP Canada, where he had worked since 1997 as a Senior Financial Consultant. SAP is a market leader, providing enterprise software to manage business operations. In his last years with SAP, Dan acted as a Trusted Advisor to his client. While working closely with executives, he used his product and business knowledge to help ensure the successful implementation of a complex suite of financial products.
Prior to his tenure at SAP, Dan held the positions of Controller and later Director of Finance of Applied Learning Canada, which he joined when he moved to Toronto in 1988. Dan was born, raised and educated in Montreal, graduating with a BComm from Concordia University. While obtaining his Diploma in Accountancy from McGill University, he worked in the Private Business practice of KPMG. He successfully completed the requirements of his CPA, CA in 1983.
Dan first became involved with Coast to Coast Against Cancer in 2015 as a volunteer on the National Kids Cancer Ride. It was a life-changing experience and he subsequently dedicated more time to the foundation as volunteer accountant in 2016 and 2017. While he has passed on the day-to-day accounting duties, he continues to perform special projects including migrating accounting software to the cloud and managing the banking and auditor relationships.
Dan is an avid sports fan. He’s very proud of his memorabilia collection. He has also travelled extensively and hopes to continue doing so. Dan lives in Mississauga with his wife of 28 years, Ginette, and their dog Ella. Daughter Christine, who lives nearby, is an elementary school teacher, certified to teach children with special needs.
Principal, Boomerang Art & Design
Fredrik Carlberg is founder and Principal of Boomerang Art & Design an independent design agency. With an aptitude for visual arrangements, patterns, rhythms, a heart for design and refined typography, Fredrik brings a wealth of talent and guidance to online, print and branding projects. Fredrik has instructed at both Sheridan and York University and has been called on several occasions to judge international design competitions.
Frederik has been an important part of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer team since 2002, when he, Jeff Rushton and several others first rode their bikes across the continent to raise funds and awareness in support of kids with cancer. Since then, he’s contributed in many ways, from designing jerseys, logos and web sites, to hand-bombing lunch supplies, from guiding in the last riders to entertaining everyone with hilarious morning stretch routines and evening fun and games at Tour For Kids.
Bill Charles, CFP
Financial Services Executive
Bill Charles is an inspirational Sales and Distribution Executive with extensive experience in the Financial Services industry and a reputation for flawless execution of strategy ensuring key corporate objectives are consistently well above target. As a Senior Vice President, his success is rooted in building businesses while cultivating opportunities for growth. Throughout his career, in four separate and distinct roles, Bill is known for exceptional success in growing Sales, Assets, Distribution and Client Satisfaction which helped a leading financial services firm reach unprecedented levels and all time highs. Served on the Board of Directors of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada, Bill has a vast industry knowledge of regulatory affairs, issues and opportunities and have spoken at IFIC Annual Conferences, the Investment Funds Forum and OSC Round Tables.
Executive Chairman, Brookfield Financial
As President of Brookfield Financial, a global real asset investment bank, Brydon Cruise is responsible for originating and executing real estate M&A and debt and equity capital markets transactions. Brydon previously worked as Managing Director at RBC Capital Markets in the commercial mortgage-backed securities business.
Brydon’s passions are cycling, hockey, golf, family and spending time with great friends. Giving back is important to Brydon and supporting many charities over the years has been an exciting and fulfilling part of his journey. He is the Past Vice-Chair of the Board for YMCA Greater Toronto Area (2006-2013), Chair of The Toronto Real Estate Ride for JDRF (2007-2013) and has been a Top Fundraiser for Tour for Kids for the past five years.
Brydon has been married to Stacey for 25 years and they have a daughter and a son both attending university and two very cheerful golden retrievers.
President, Fan Expo Canada
Steve Menzie is President of Fan Expo Canada where he oversees a team that produces incredibly successful pop culture events such as Fan Expo Canada, Toronto Comicon and other similar events all across Canada and the US. For most of his career, Steve has been involved in event production, including key roles with the original Mark Burnett-produced Eco-Challenge, one of the first made-for-television adventure competitions.
Steve has been an important and valued friend of the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation and many of our team members from the very beginning in 2004, as a volunteer, participant and fundraiser.
Len Pace is a senior executive in the commercial real estate investment and development industry. Len and his wife Frances have three children: Madeline, Alex (1997-2009) and Ben. Following Alex’s diagnosis of osteosarcoma in 2007, Len and his family became actively involved in Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, riding and volunteering in Tour for Kids since 2008, the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride (2011), and numerous Inside Ride events. Under the umbrella of “AMPed for Life”, the Pace family and a circle of close friends have organized the Bal de Neige since 2010, and have raised over $2.0 million for childhood cancer-related charities.
Len believes strongly in the power that a group of dedicated, focused and inspired people can deliver in support of a cause. He believes that Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation has the potential to truly change the world and particularly the journey and destination for those affected by childhood cancer.
