What our events are like

As a foundation, we have created a series of high quality, memorable, physically challenging, national and regional events that encourage active and healthy lifestyles and engage sponsors, participants, donors and volunteers. From cycling rides to team-building activities, we raise needed funding for worthy childhood cancer charities whose programs support children with cancer and their families.

Celebrating 13 years with Tour for Kids and supporting kids living with and beyond cancer

Tour for Kids is an important, sustainable source of funding for the incredible childhood cancer camp organizations in Canada. Since 2004 Tour For Kids has raised and distributed more than $11 million to these amazing organizations. Tour For Kids has also assisted in establishing a camp at SickKids hospital, rejuvenated the aging infrastructure of several overnight camps and improved the delivery of service across all three camps. Since camp is free to those in need, Tour for Kids funding means children with cancer and their families can take a break from their stresses while enjoying a camp experience just like other kids. The Sears National Kids Cancer Ride is one of the biggest and most ambitious charity cycling events on behalf of childhood cancer in the world. Now in it’s 10th year the 2017 event will be an emotional and inspirational adventure beginning in Vancouver on September 6 and complete in Halifax 18 memorable days later on September 23, 2017. Riding in relay style, the selected national riders will each cycle approximately 150 km and 220kms per day joined along the way by thousands of other caring cyclists who will cycle shorter, “stage ride” distances in major cities across Canada.

At the start and end of each day they will participate in community events and visit many of Canada’s 17 pediatric oncology centres and hospitals where the cancer community will share inspiring stories of strength and hope with cyclists and the media. Together, our cyclists will raise millions of dollars on behalf of charities that improve the quality of life for children, and their families, living with and beyond cancer. Read More

Looking forward to 2017

2017 is shaping up to be very exciting and we’re hoping to bring even more people into this amazing Coast to Coast Against Cancer family and community. So, in 2017 we’ll be back with Tour For Kids events including a return to Atlantic Canada. We will be expanding The Inside Ride program to reach more communities. And the 2017 Sears National Kids Cancer Ride will be back with a new team to cycle across Canada for childhood cancer, bringing a message of inspiration and hope. And if you want to get even more involved, we would be happy to talk to you about volunteering, running an event, bringing new sponsorships or any other great ideas that you may have to help create awareness or raise funds.

You are making a difference in the lives of kids with cancer

As we wrap up 2016 and get ready to enjoy the holiday season and, we want to thank you for your support, commitment, energy and dedication… we really love having you part of our family! Even more importantly, together, we are making a difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families.

So as you pause to reflect on your accomplishments, count your blessings or give thanks for all the goodness in your life, you might also give yourself a pat on the back. Because somewhere in Canada a child with cancer or their parent is also giving thanks for the support they received from the very organizations that your efforts have funded.
