The 2012 Bike for Tykes event, in partnership with Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, is putting its wheels in motion to raise funds to improve the lives of children with cancer. 100% of all funds raised, yes, 100%, will be allocated toward the construction of the Garron Family Cancer, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Neighbourhood within the Research and Learning Tower Project at the Hospital for Sick Children. Where Does My Donation Go?100% of all funds raised will be allocated to constructing and equipping Garron Family Cancer, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Neighbourhood within the Research and Learning Tower Project at the Hospital for Sick Children. In The Cancer, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Neighbourhood, basic scientists will work alongside clinician-researchers to develop a whole new paradigm for childhood cancer treatment based on destroying cancer stem cells, following their fate using imaging technology, and monitoring the impact of existing and new cancer therapies. Located on the sixteenth, seventeenth, and eighteenth floors of the Research and Learning Tower, the Neighbourhood’s state-of-the-art labs, spacious meeting rooms, and interactive Atrium will provide every opportunity for researchers to interact, dramatically increasing the number of exciting new ideas and collaborations that develop. The Neighbourhood’s ultimate goal: better treatments that have the power to cure without causing debilitating complications.
