Some facts about my treatment:

After month of increasing pain and misdiagnoses, I learned I had cancer on June 1, 2009. We knew from the start it was going to be a hard battle, because the cancer was in multiple locations in my hips and in both legs. I had 14 rounds of chemo in hospital and 31 doses of radiation in Regina. I then travelled to Calgary to the Alberta Children's Hospital in June 2010 for high dose chemo and a stem cell transplant. The stem cells were my own, they had been harvested in July 2009 before I was really sick from the chemo. I was in remission for only a few months. The pain started to come back and an MRI in December 2010 showed that the cancer was back. In the spring of 2011 I had 4 more rounds of chemo and an MRI in April 2011 showed there was no progress against the cancer. I am off treatment and simply living my life to the best of my ability. The doctors tell me there is no cure. I am trying to come to terms with that, and enjoy my life as much as possible.

What I want people to know about me

I try to always find a way to see the humour in things, even when you are sad, you don't have to stay that way. You can choose to find something to laugh and smile about in any situation.

My favourite day was

Performing "Let it Be" for my graduating class

The worst thing about having cancer

Missing out on being a normal teenager

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Video game designer

My message to other kids undergoing treatment

Always bring things with you to help the time pass. Listen to your parents, because they are there to make things go more smoothly and let you just focus on getting well. Finally, get some cool hats!

If I had three wishes they would be...

To be cured and cancer free and to have my drivers license

I'm involved with Coast to Coast because...

I think it's important for people to know that cancer affects kids all across the country, and that we need to do something about it.
